Bhavesh “Bob” Patel appointed new group CEO

The search for a new CEO for LyondellBasell Industries (LBI, Rotterdam / The Netherlands; www.lyondellbasell.com) has come to an end. On 12 January, Bhavesh “Bob” Patel will take over at the helm of the petrochemicals giant, replacing CEO James L. Gallogly, who will then retire (for previous coverage, see Plasteurope.com of 01.10.2014).
Patel joined LBI in 2010, after previous stints at Chevron and Chevron Phillips Chemical. After serving as senior vice president Olefins and Polyolefins – Americas, his most recent position has been as executive vice president O&P – Europe, Asia & International. In April he was appointed to the company’s management board and will serve as its chairman once he becomes CEO.
