BOND-LAMINATES
Expansion of German “Tepex” production facilities / Total capacity over 4m m² annually / Development of Brilon application centre
Bond-Laminates (Brilon / Germany; www.bond-laminates.de) part of the high performance materials business unit of German speciality chemicals group Lanxess (Cologne; www.lanxess.com), has completed a capacity expansion for high-performance composite “Tepex” at its site in Brilon / Germany. The company now has an annual capacity of over 4m m² of the material.
The expansion includes a production hall, additional storage areas and office space and was in response to rising demand for “Tepex”, particularly in the automotive, sports equipment and consumer electronics industries.
The expansion was completed alongside developments at the company’s application centre at the site. By the end of 2014, a hybrid moulding facility will be installed, enabling “Tepex” to be formed and over-injected directly with thermoplastics in a one-shot process.
Ulrich Jecmeniza, application developer at Bond-Laminates, said: “We want to use this facility to present this manufacturing technology to our customers in the sports and consumer electronics industries in order to support them in the development of innovative applications. We also want to optimise the processing behaviour of new composites and customer-specific material recipes.
