US packaging giant continues acquisition spree / Purchase of UK food packaging manufacturer St. Neots Packaging
The acquisition spree of global packaging giant Coveris (Chicago, Illinois / USA; www.coveris.com) continues. Just days after announcing the integration of US rigid packaging manufacturer KubeTech Custom Molding – see Plasteurope.com of 10.06.2014 – the company has now acquired St. Neots Packaging (St. Neots / UK; www.stneotspackaging.co.uk). Financial details were not disclosed.
The UK company produces film-lined sandwich packaging, bespoke cartons and other consumer products for the food and consumer businesses. Coveris said the acquisition supports its long-term growth plans in the convenience and food-to-go sectors, adding that St. Neot’s plants in Cambridgeshire and its sourcing office in Hong Kong complement its existing cartonboard operation in Wisbech, also in Cambridgeshire.
Following the purchase, Coveris’ UK Food & Consumer sales now exceed GBP 400m (about EUR 500m), the company said, adding that its UK-based workforce of more than 2,000 is now spread across 16 sites.
