Plastics compounder and distributor A. Schulman (Akron, Ohio / USA; www.aschulman.com) has completed its purchase of niche engineering plastics compounding and distribution company Network Polymers (Akron; www.networkpolymers.com) for USD 49.5m (EUR 36.5m). A. Schulman said the acquisition brings a broad spectrum of custom resins and alloys, including “Centrex” acrylic-styrene-acrylonitrile (ASA) products and “Diamond Polymer” ABS, ABS/PC, ASA and ASA/PC thermoplastics. The deal, which was announced in May, also provides greater penetration in key markets such as building and construction, agricultural products as well as lawn and garden – see Plasteurope.com of 03.06.2013.

Joseph Gingo, A. Schulman’s CEO, said the company will continue to pursue acquisitions in niche product areas.
