The British Plastics Federation (BPF, London; www.bpf.co.uk) has confirmed Philip Law as its new director general. The announcement came during the federation’s recent 80th anniversary dinner. Law assumes his new role 1 July 2014 and also takes on the responsibilities of public and industrial affairs director.
He replaces Peter Davis, who is retiring as BPF director general at the end of June 2014. Making the announcement, the organisation's president, Mike Boswell, pointed out that Davis has served as director general for “20% of the federation’s existence and has done much to raise the BPF’s profile, authority, professionalism and financial stability.” Also retiring next year is the BPF’s finance and administration director, Alan Davey.
Boswell took the celebratory dinner as an occasion to highlight areas he intends to develop during his tenure. They include availability of finance, secure and affordable energy, meeting skill needs as well as promoting a recovery in the UK’s construction and building sector.
