CONSTANTIA
Takeover of Amcor's Spanish packaging subsidiary Tobepal
Constantia Flexibles (Weinheim / Austria; www.constantia-flexibles.com), a subsidiary of Austrian aluminum, corrugated board and flexible packaging specialist Constantia Packaging (Vienna; www.constantia-packaging.com) has acquired Spanish packaging manufacturer Tobepal (Logrono) for an undisclosed amount of money.
The deal, which has already received EU approval and is expected to be closed in the coming months, was finalised between Constantia Flexibles and Tobepal holding company Amcor Flexibles Hispania, a 100% subsidiary of Australian packaging giant Amcor (Abbotsford; www.amcor.com).
Tobepal employs some 490 workers at its northern Spanish production sites of Burgos and Logrono and last posted sales of about EUR 100m. The company mostly manufactures flexible packaging in the pharma, food and household goods segments.
In a recent study on Europe’s leading converted flexible packaging manufacturers, British researchers Applied Market Information (AMI, Bristol; www.amiplastics.com) ranked Constantia on third spot, while first place was awarded to Amcor Flexibles – see Plasteurope.com of 16.07.2010.
