Dutch pipe producer Wavin (Zwolle; www.wavin.com) is expanding its business in North America with the takeover of Canadian competitor Bow Plumbing (Montreal, Quebec; www.bow-group.com). Financial details were not disclosed.

Wavin was itself acquired by Orbia (Tlalnepantla, Mexico; www.orbia.com), formerly Mexichem, in 2012. With a worldwide staff of 12,000, the Dutch company has businesses in several European countries, China, India, Indonesia, Latin America, and the Middle East. This would be its first foray into Canadian and US markets.

Orbia CEO Sameer Bharadwaj said along with providing expertise, Bow Plumbing comes with a strong customer base in the water management sector. “North America is experiencing increased demand for solutions that ensure urban resilience: a critical area of focus at Orbia.”

Founded in 1939, Bow Plumbing makes plastic pipes and fittings for water management systems in residential and commercial construction, processing a variety of materials, including cross-linked polyethylene (PEX), PVC, and ABS. In addition to its manufacturing site in Quebec, it has sales offices across Canada and the US.
