Versalis Pacific Trading (Shanghai), the Chinese subsidiary established by Versalis (Milan / Italy; www.versalis.eni.com) in 2012 (see Plasteurope.com of 18.09.2012), has entered into a styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) sales agreement with India’s Reliance Industries (RIL, Mumbai; www.ril.com). Under the terms of the deal, Versalis will distribute in China the emulsion styrene butadiene rubber (ESBR) turned out at the 140,000 t/y plant recently started up by Reliance in Hazira / India. Key end markets are the automotive and tire industries.

The agreement builds on the collaboration the two companies entered into in 2011, when Versalis provided Reliance with the technology license and know-how that enabled the Indian group to build the Hazira SBR facility.
