Dutch chemicals distributor Univar (Rotterdam; www.univareurope.com) in September began operations at its first subsidiary in Tunisia. The group had previously catered to its customers in the North African country through its French and UK subsidiaries. The new office will complement Univar’s existing presence in the region, including operations in Morocco, Egypt and Algeria. The business, which will distribute the whole range of Univar’s portfolio in the country, will be headed by Eminn Chahed.

Univar represents more than 3,500 chemical producers and caters to a clientele of about 115,000 from its 260 distribution facilities across the world. The group posted sales of USD 9.7 bn in 2011.
