German distributor Ultrapolymers (Augsburg; www.ultrapolymers.de) has built on its existing cooperation with LyondellBasell (Rotterdam / The Netherlands; www.lyondellbasell.com) and added a new “Purell” polyolefin to its portfolio. The grade, “Purell ACP 5531 B”, is an HDPE developed specifically for the extrusion blow moulding of large, thin-walled containers with little weight. It has a melt flow rate (MFR) of 9.5g/10 min and a stiffness of 1250 MPa.
Like the other Purell family members, the material is earmarked for medical and pharmaceutical applications, including bottles, lightweight canisters and other containers that come into contact with aggressive chemicals and dangerous goods. Ultrapolymers will market Purell ACP 5531 B in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
The German distributor has a long history with LyondellBasell and the Purell range, extending all the way back to the Basell days (see Plasteurope.com of 29.11.2006).
