In the wake of the death of Total (Paris / France; www.total.com/en) CEO Christophe de Margerie on 20 October (see Plasteurope.com of 22.10.2014), the petrochemical giant continues to reshuffle its leadership. Following the appointment of Thierry Desmarest as chairman and Patrick Pouyanné’s being named CEO and chair of the executive committee (see Plasteurope.com of 24.10.2014), the latter’s former position as president of Refining & Chemicals has now been filled by Philippe Sauquet.

Sauquet previously served as president of the group’s Gas & Power business. His appointment takes effect immediately, and he will also serve on Total’s seven-member executive committee. Sauquet first joined Total in 1990 and was appointed to his previous post as president of Gas & Power in mid-2012.
