Saudi LDPE/EVA swing plant starts operations
Following reports that off-spec production already commenced in spring, Saudi International Petrochemical Company (Sipchem, Riyadh / Saudi Arabia; www.sipchem.com) in early August officially announced the start-up of its 200,000 t/y LDPE/EVA swing plant in Al-Jubail – for earlier coverage, see Plasteurope.com of 10.10.2013. The facility, which Sipchem claims is the first of its kind in the Middle East, is operated by International Polymers Company, a 75:25 joint venture between the Saudi group and Hanwha Chemical (Seoul / South Korea; http://hcc.hanwha.co.kr).
