German industrial packaging specialist Schütz (Selters; www.schuetz.de) has opened a new production plant in the US state of Georgia. Located in the town of Carl, about 90 kms outside of Atlanta, the new manufacturing facility replaces the one in Doraville, which is also in Georgia. According to a spokeswoman who recently talked with Plasteurope.com, the new site began production in March.
Spread across more than 14 hectares, the Carl location produces IBCs, F1 PE drums and open-head drums in the extrusion blow moulding process. In addition, the location is home to the company’s second steel service processing centre. Together with another facility in Houston, Texas, the new site covers the markets in the southeastern US as well as along the Gulf Coast.
Schütz says the new plant has been certified according to the FSSC 22000 (Food Safety System Certification) industry standard and its product portfolio supplies the needs of the food industry, the agricultural sector as well as the chemical and petrochemical industries.
