“Interplastica Moscow 2011” / Plastics sector poised for future growth
The next “Interplastica Moscow” (www.interplastica.de) will be held in the Russian capital from 25-28 January 2011. Organisers Messe Düsseldorf (Düsseldorf / Germany; www.messe-duesseldorf.de) and its subsidiary Messe Düsseldorf Moscow expect the event, which will be held simultaneously with “Upakovka/Upak Italia” (http://upakovka.messe-duesseldorf.de/), to draw some 800 exhibitors from 30 different countries. Both exhibitions are expected to occupy a space of about 15,000 m2. This year, some 21,000 people visited the two events.
Next year’s Interplastica will be held at a time when the Russian economy gradually is picking up again from the 2008 financial slump. According to Messe Düsseldorf, the production volume of Russia’s manufacturing sector rose by 14% year-on-year in H1 2010. This upward trend is confirmed in a recent report by GlobalData (www.globaldata.com), which asserts that Russian PE demand will grow by 8.6% per year to 2015 – see Plasteurope.com of 14.12.2010.
Overall, Messe Düsseldorf says, the trend in Russia is towards modernisation and capacity increases. One sector that is experiencing particularly impressive growth is plastic film – see Plasteurope.com of 02.08.2010 – a segment expected to grow by 8-10% this year. With Russian per capita consumption of plastic film still much lower than in the US or western Europe, this market still has vast potential for expansion.
