Danish packaging specialist RPC Superfos (Taastrup; www.superfos.com) has developed “FlakeFree” paint containers and lids, which it claims make decorating easier for customers in both the professional and DIY markets. The design of the containers avoids the problem of dried paint falling from the rim and lid into the paint when the container is reopened. This problem, which can result in poor quality, was identified as an issue by 97% of respondents in the company’s market research, it said.
RPC’s solution was to place a granular texture on the inside of the lid and container, preventing dry flakes from falling into the paint no matter how many times a container is opened and reclosed. The system has the additional advantage of allowing the painter to use all of the paint, rather than having to throw away remains that have been spoiled by flakes.
“FlakeFree” is available for the company’s “SuperCube”, “SuperFlex” and “SuperLift” paint containers and lids, or as part of a customised packaging solution.
