Rowa Group subsidiary Rowa Masterbatch (Pinneberg / Germany; www.rowa-masterbatch.de) has developed an antimony-free “Rowalid LS” masterbatch for use in sensitive areas such as medical engineering or technical equipment housings. The grade does not contain any heavy metals, complies with REACH and is suitable for use in food packaging, the company said. Plastics that contain the masterbatch can be marked with retailer or consumer information, including serial numbers, bar codes and expiration dates, Rowa added.
Key applications include computer keyboards, car switches, markings on food packaging, animal ear tags as well as logos and markings on mobile phone casings. Rowa Masterbatch said it uses a range of thermoplastic materials for “Rowalid LS”, including PE, PP, PA, PMMA, PC, ABS, SAN and ASA.
