QC POLYMERS
Contractors chosen for new Dutch recycling plant / Construction to start this month
Quality Circular Polymers (QCP, Urmond / The Netherlands; www.qcpolymers.com) has selected technology providers for the engineering and construction of the first phase of its circular polymer plant to be built at Sittard-Geleen in The Netherlands – see Plasteurope.com of 25.04.2014. B+B Anlagenbau (Willich / Germany; www.bub-anlagenbau.de) will supply equipment for processing the incoming bales of post-consumer plastic waste to sorted clean flakes. KraussMaffei Berstorff (Hannover / Germany; www.kraussmaffeiberstorff.com) will provide two twin screw extruders that will transform the flakes into PP and PE compounds, while the AZO Group (Osterburken / Germany; www.azo.com) will supply all material handling and transport systems.
Engineering is underway and construction will commence this month so that the 100,000 t/y plant can start up in the fourth quarter of 2015. QCP said it is currently starting its pre-marketing activities and developing sustainable products for the packaging, automotive, building and electrical and electronics industries together with brand owners and polyolefins converters.
Huub Meessen, CEO of QCP, commented, “Apart from B+B, which has a long track record in the circular polymer industry, it is good to see that leading players from the virgin polymer industry, like KraussMaffei Berstorff and AZO, are very determined to step into the world of sustainable polymers.” Marc Houtermans, COO of QCP, added, “This partnership will combine the best of both worlds; new technology from the upcoming circular polymer industry with proven technology and extensive experience from the traditional compounding industry.”
QCP has secured raw material supplies from strategic partner SITA Nederland (Arnhem / The Netherlands; www.sita.nl).
