New sorting plant in Denmark / Cooperation with Danish recycling company Solum
German waste disposal service provider PreZero (Porta Westfalica; www.prezero.com) said it is planning to build a sorting plant for lightweight packaging in Holbæk in cooperation with Danish recycling company Solum (Hedehusene; www.solum.com).

The plant, with a capacity of 100,000 t/y to 130,000 t/y, is to separate the plastics waste delivered into PET, HDPE, and PP fractions. According to PreZero, the plant will contribute to Denmark’s and the EU’s ambitious goal of recycling over half (55%) of plastics waste by 2030.

The location on Denmark’s largest island, Zealand, was chosen partly because there are a large number of plastics processing companies there, said Wolf Tiedemann, CEO of PreZero International.

According to the schedule, the 15,500 m² sorting plant is due to go into operation at the beginning of 2027. The planning phase for the construction will take place in 2024/2025, with construction scheduled to begin in 2025/2026.
