New innovation centre opened in Shanghai / Hub to serve as regional headquarters
US compounder PolyOne (Cleveland, Ohio; www.polyone.com) has opened a new Asia Innovation Centre in the JinQiao Development Zone in Shanghai / China. The facility – which will also serve as PolyOne’s regional headquarters – includes laboratories, an interactive product display as well as a modern training hub where customers can collaborate with the centre’s staff in accelerating their product developments and speed to market. The focus of the activities will be on what the group called “high-growth end markets”, including healthcare, packaging, transportation, electronics and consumer goods.
The decision to open the new hub is set against the backdrop of PolyOne’s success in Asia, where it just opened an entirely new facility last year in India, producing speciality solid masterbatch and liquid colour and additive formulations (see Plasteurope.com of 22.09.2014). PolyOne posted revenues of USD 3.8 bn in 2014, with earnings down 33% to USD 155m (see Plasteurope.com of 29.01.2015).
