PHILLIPS-MEDISIZE
Investment of USD 30m planned across Wisconsin sites / Nearly 500 jobs to be created
Injection moulding specialist Phillips-Medisize (Hudson, Wisconsin / USA; www.phillipsplastics.com) is planning a USD 30m (EUR 24m) expansion across its six facilities in Wisconsin. The company has already started construction work at facilities in New Richmond and Menomonie, and expansions are also planned in Hudson, Phillips, Medford and Eau Claire. Chairman and CEO Matt Jennings said: "We are excited to announce the investments in our facilities that will expand our capabilities, enable us to hire employees with needed expertise and will allow us to deliver on our commitments to our customers."
Phillips-Medisize said the projects include a 33,000 square foot expansion of its medical facility in New Richmond, including additional clean room space. Construction work at the facility, which is used for manufacturing and assembling diagnostic and surgical products, is expected to be completed in late 2015. Phillips-Medisize is also expanding its metal injection moulding facility in Menomonie and recruiting additional staff within its Design Development Center in Hudson. The staff joining the Design Development Center will assist in the commercialisation of pharmaceutical devices, the company said.
The investments are expected to lead to the creation of 484 new jobs. Phillips-Medisize will receive up to USD 5m in state tax credits over the next 39 months from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, with the amount of tax credits depending on the number of jobs created.
