Sabic declares force majeure for LDPE from Wilton
Sabic Europe (Sittard / The Netherlands; www.sabic-europe.com) has confirmed that it declared force majeure on 8 July for all grades of LDPE produced at Wilton / UK.
A spokesperson told Plasteurope.com the affected plant is off line due to technical problems. The company was working to resolve the issue but was unable to say when the FM would be lifted.
According to PIE’s Polyglobe database (www.polyglobe.net), the Wilton facility has capacity to produce 400,000 t/y – about 7% of western Europe’s total LDPE output capability. In Europe, altogether, Polyglobe shows that nearly 17% of LDPE capacity is currently off line.
