PETROCHEMICALS EUROPE
Cefic's petchems segment APPE has a new name
The Association of Petrochemical Producers in Europe (APPE), part of the European Chemical Industry Association Cefic (Brussels / Belgium; www.cefic.org), has changed its name to Petrochemicals Europe (Brussels; www.petrochemistry.eu). The new name for the petrochemicals segment follows the switch of Cefic’s plastics arm some years ago to PlasticsEurope (www.plasticseurope.org) from the former Association of Plastics Manufacturers in Europe (APME).
“Petrochemicals Europe fits perfectly with the role the industry plays across Europe and will certainly help us raise our profile in a time of increasing challenges,” said Dorothee Arns, executive director of the Cefic Petrochemistry & Plastics Additives segment and of Petrochemicals Europe.
With annual sales of EUR 155 bn, the European petrochemicals sector employs 300,000 people.
