PP grade with high transparency launched
In a bid to improve its competitiveness, Russian polymer producer Nizhnekamskneftekhim (Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan; www.nknh.ru) has introduced a highly transparent grade of PP – "PP4445T". The random ethylene propylene copolymer has enhanced optical, organoleptical and physical mechanical properties and is suited for high-speed thin-walled moulding of food and technical packaging, the Russian company said.
According to Nizhnekamskneftekhim, the development of PP4445T was in response to processors’ requests to explore the possibility of increasing the target melt flow index of PP grades containing ethylene so that processing cycle times could be reduced and capacity increased. PP4445T has a target melt flow index of 60g/10 minutes compared with Nizhnekamskneftekhim’s PP4445S grade which has an index of 40g/10 minutes.
