Introducing “Nexamite PBO” multifunctional additive / Chain extender and crosslinker
Sweden’s Nexam Chemical (Lund; www.nexamchemical.com/en) has introduced a new multifunctional additive for use as a chain extender and crosslinker in a wide range of plastic materials and manufacturing processes. “Nexamite PBO” is said to be an effective compatibiliser and acid scavenger when used to manufacture virgin polymer blends, engineering thermoplastics and in the recycling of mixed plastics.

The additive is characterised by improved hydrolytic and thermal stability and enables the use of low viscosity polymers, Nexam said, adding that it is also capable of upgrading spent and recycled material. Other characteristics include its ability to allow for controlled branching and crosslinking, and its capacity to enable the compatibilisation of polymer blends.
