Italian gastronomy and catering goods producer Mori 2A (Nuvolento; www.mori2a.com) has chosen Eastman Chemical’s (Kingsport, Tennessee / USA; www.eastman.com) “Tritan” copolyester for its new range of food containers, drainer plates, drinkware as well as standard and airtight lids. The Italian group chose “Tritan” because it is BPA-free but also thanks to its other characteristics, including the fact that it is dishwasher durable, tough and has a crystal-clear clarity. Mori 2A managing director Alvise Mori said, “As regulation changes regarding BPA in France were pending, we proactively sought an alternative material that allowed us to deliver the BPA-free option our customers wanted.”
Aside from these considerations, Mori 2A said the material allows for a design that is in line with its existing range of stainless steel and polycarbonate products, while at the same time adding both functionality and toughness.
Ahead of France’s decision to ban BPA, cookware, catering and tableware products designer and producer Saint Romain (Saint-Étienne / France; www.saint-romain-sa.com) last year also switched to Eastman's “Tritan” – see Plasteurope.com of 02.05.2014.
