HENGLI PETROCHEMICAL
Successful start-up of third PTA line in China
China’s Hengli Petrochemical (Dalian; www.henglipc.com) has announced the successful start-up of a third PTA line based on technology from US company Invista (Wichita, Kansas; www.invista.com). The company’s PTA production is located on Changxing Island, Dalian, in Liaoning province.

Mike Lin, Hengli Petrochemical’s vice general manager, said: “The 2.2m t/y PTA production line is starting up quickly, with one of our streams reaching 100% utilisation within 24 hours. The smooth start-up is not surprising, however; our other two PTA lines onsite continue to operate in excess of 100% flow sheet rate.” Mike Pickens, president of Invista Peformance Technologies, added: “The successful PTA plant start-up represents the latest milestone in our relationship with Hengli.”

Invista signed a technology licensing agreement with Hengli Petrochemical in May 2010. The first 2m t/y PTA line went on stream in September 2012 – see Plasteurope.com of 24.09.2012.
