The "Chinaplas 2010" exhibition (www.chinaplasonline.com), to be held from 19-22 April 2010 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), will have an additional superlative. The expanded 150,000 m˛ floor space – see Plasteurope.com of 11.11.2009 – will bear witness to what Stanley Chu, chairman of organiser Adsale Exhibition Services (Hong Kong / China; www.adsale.com.hk), calls “the increasing awareness” of global environmental protection, green plastics and machinery for energy saving and emissions reduction.

To promote the concept, the show will feature an Industrial Forum on Green Technology and a Green Corner dedicated to an “exchange of views” on such issues as energy saving and recycling. Forum speakers are expected to include representatives of international trade associations and companies. In addition to Chinese trade groups and end-users, the US Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI), the European committee of plastics and rubber machinery trade associations, Euromap, along with BASF, Haitian, DSM and DuPont have been invited. Two days prior to the fair’s opening, the Second China International Seminar of Biodegradeable Plastics will be held.
Adsale said it is now expecting more than 2,100 “world renowned” exhibitors, from more than 30 countries and regions, along with 75,000 visitors from 130 countries and regions, to attend Chinaplas.
