EVONIK
“Plexiglas” showroom in Turkey / Celebrating 25 years in the country
Aside from celebrating 25 years of distribution and marketing activities in Turkey this year, German specialty chemicals producer Evonik (Essen; www.evonik.com) recently opened a showroom in Tuzla (Istanbul) where customers are advised about the various functions of the group’s proprietary “Plexiglas” PMMA, which range from automotive applications to sound insulation walls.
On the occasion of marking a quarter century of activities by Evonik Degussa Ticaret (Tuzla / Turkey), the German group reaffirmed its commitment to the Turkish market where it plans to “continue to pursue the current growth trend”, said Thomas Wessel, director Human Resources at Evonik and executive board member responsible for the group’s Europe region. Driving trends include not only the country’s rising purchasing power and young population, but also a steady expansion in infrastructure, which have seen Evonik double its local revenues to EUR 200m over the past three years.
The most important activities for Evonik in Turkey are the production of superabsorbents for disposable diapers, silicas as well as monomers for the manufacture of “Plexiglas”.
