Klaus Schäfer to head Industrial Operations and Technology

With effect from 1 January 2015, Klaus Schäfer has been appointed new head of Industrial Operations and Technology at Bayer MaterialScience (BMS, Leverkusen / Germany; www.bayerbms.com). The 52-year-old physics graduate, who also will be a member of the BMS executive board, succeeds the retiring Tony Van Osselaer.
Most recently, Schäfer served as head of Production and Technology in the BMS polyurethanes business unit. Previous positions in the Bayer group include Senior Country Representative China and CEO of infrastructure arm Currenta.
