BAYER MATERIALSCIENCE
North American PU systems distribution deal with Composites One
Composites One (Arlington Heights, Illinois / USA; www.compositesone.com) has signed an agreement with Bayer MaterialScience LLC, the US arm of Bayer MaterialScience (Leverkusen / Germany; www.bayerbms.com), to distribute the company’s polyurethane resin systems directly to composite parts manufacturers in the US. The deal covers all of BMS’ fully formulated PU systems, in particular those manufactured through pultrusion, resin transfer moulding, vacuum-assisted resin transfer moulding, resin infusion, and filament winding processes. It does not include sales of BMS’ polyurethane raw materials.
Greg Shymske, vice president of marketing at Composites One, said the arrangement with Bayer will allow his company to offer its composites customers “a unique package of proven polyurethane resin systems backed by an unprecedented level of technical support and service.”
The US distributor, established in 1999 as a joint venture of GLS Corporation and Cook Composites and Polymers, has a network of 32 distribution and stocking centres throughout North America. GLS was acquired by PolyOne in 2008 – see Plasteurope.com of 15.02.2008.
