Wayne Smith appointed chairman and CEO of BASF Corporation in the US

On 1 May Wayne Smith became chairman and CEO of BASF Corporation (Florham Park, New Jersey / USA; www.basf.us), the North American affiliate of German chemicals giant BASF (Ludwigshafen; www.basf.com). He succeeds Hans Engel, who relocates to Germany as CFO of the parent company, where he will also assume additional responsibilities on the company’s board.
Smith first joined BASF in 2004 and has held a number of positions since. In addition to serving as CEO and chairman, he will also have global responsibility for the company’s Catalysts, Coatings and Performance Materials divisions.
