European Plastics Converters (EuPC, Brussels / Belgium; www.plasticsconverters.eu) has launched a new sector group, the MedPharmPlast Europe. The group has been tasked with facilitating the development of market opportunities while also protecting European competitiveness at the international level. Another key issue MedPharmPlast Europe will handle is the rapidly changing regulatory environment, including European Parliament directives. EuPC said it has already obtained permission from the European Commission to represent plastics for medical devices through direct participation in the European Medical Devices Expert Group.

The European plastics converters association has called on interested parties from the medical device and pharmaceutical packaging sectors to join MedPharmPlast Europe to participate in work on the details of EU regulations for plastics in the medical device and pharmaceutical packaging markets. A kick-off meeting for the group is scheduled to take place in Brussels 28 January 2014.
