ALBEMARLE
Headquarters to move from Baton Rouge to Charlotte / Relocation follows Rockwood Holdings purchase
Albemarle (Baton Rouge, Louisiana / USA; www.albemarle.com) will relocate its headquarters from Baton Rouge about 1,200 km to the east, to Charlotte, North Carolina / USA by June next year. The move follows its USD 5.7 bn acquisition of Rockwood Holdings in January this year. In addition, the employees of Baton Rouge’s Refining Solutions business will transfer to the group’s office in Clear Lake, Texas – about 440 km to the west. The relocation will affect about 120 employees, with Baton Rouge remaining the home of the company’s R&D and manufacturing operations as well as several functional and support operations.
“Charlotte is the best strategic location to base the new Albemarle,” said CEO Luke Kissam. The group nearly doubled in size following the Rockwood acquisition, and now employs close to 7,000 people worldwide.
